Our New CD – AQUARIUM and more from the FOUR
We are pleased to announce that The Delaware Valley Saxophone Quartet has released its newest CD, Aquarium and more from the Four, available by emailing us or at the quartet’s concerts. Please see below for a sampling of music from the CD.
Selections from the CD, including the world premiere of AQUARIUM and a unique arrangement of the traditional spiritual Amazing Grace, were performed at a May 2017 concert at Delaware Valley University.

The CD includes the full AQUARIUM piece and eight more pieces with some original arrangements.
Aquarium was first heard by Bill Schutt when it was played by Carson Cooman at a recital on the Nantucket Unitarian Church’s famous pipe organ. Carson is an organist specializing in contemporary music and Composer in Residence at Harvard University’s Memorial Church. A search did not turn up a saxophone arrangement of the piece but led Bill directly to the composer in Hamburg, Germany. Andreas Willscher is a very well known organist and composer, and upon hearing about the search for a saxophone quartet arrangement of his work, he offered to write the arrangement himself for the Delaware Valley Saxophone Quartet
The piece consists of nine short movements that remind the listener of the various type of marine creatures one might encounter in an aquarium. Some of the movements sound like an organ, mimic cowboy songs or Bach preludes. Andreas sent instructions to the Delaware Valley Saxophone Quartet that they were to decide the tempo, dynamics and how his piece was to be played. So, the interpretation is all ours and the composition is all Andreas Willscher.
Thank you Andreas.
